Spire Southampton Hospital commended for Cardiac Outcomes, Nominated for Awards

SPIRE SOUTHAMPTON HOSPITAL'S CARDIAC SURGERY SERVICE NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL HEALTHCARE AWARDS, 2012 AND 2013

The Cardiac Surgery Team at Spire Southampton Hospital was shortlisted as a finalist in the Healthcare Outcomes category of the Laing and Buisson Specialist Healthcare awards for 2012.

The awards recognise ‘outstanding quality and innovation while rewarding the teams and individuals whose dedication and commitment helps make the UK independent healthcare sector truly world class’.

Finalists in the Healthcare Outcomes category had to demonstrate evidence of improvements in outcomes through their use of high quality, coordinated programmes of patient care, education and research.

The nomination for 2013 was for Spire Southampton's Public Private Partnership – working with the former PCTs from Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole; and Wiltshire to provide a direct cardiac surgical service for NHS patients. This partnership is continuing through Spire’s work with the newly-formed NHS England which looks after specialised services across the region.

These partnerships give elective and non-elective surgery patients more choice – allowing them to take advantage of high quality and cost effective service from Spire at NHS tariff price.
